Background

A new company. Not a new operator.

Secure Systems Integrators is new. The person doing the work is not — electronic security since 2015, industrial automation since 2018, across Australia and overseas. What follows is a sample rather than a list: a few projects that show the range, and the reason you can reasonably trust a business that started recently.

About this page. The projects described here were delivered in previous roles, working for other employers — not as Secure Systems Integrators engagements. They’re my professional experience rather than the company’s portfolio, and they’re described by sector rather than by client name. As Secure Systems Integrators completes its own work, that will appear separately.

Industrial automation & control

A selection from work since 2018, in Australia and overseas.

Food processing

Lidding and carton erecting machinery

Control systems for packaging machinery across national meat processing plants — high-throughput lines where a stoppage is measured in product, not minutes, and where washdown environments and hygiene requirements constrain what can be installed and how.

Oil & gas

Workover rig packages, pipe handlers and mud trailers

Complete control packages for drilling support equipment, including the world's first electric regenerative workover rigs — recovering energy from the drawworks rather than burning it off as heat. Remote sites, hazardous areas, and equipment that has to work a long way from anyone who could fix it.

Modular construction

Mobile cold-forming machinery

Control systems for roll-forming plant producing framing for modular housing — mobile units that set up on site, which puts every commissioning and calibration problem in a different place each time.

Manufacturing

Mass-production banding machinery

High-cycle production equipment where the control system's job is consistency across very large volumes, and where a fractional timing error compounds into a significant reject rate.

Oil & gas — international

Pipe torque certification machines, Malaysia

Test and certification equipment for tubular connections, where the control system's output is a measurement someone downstream relies on. Precision and traceability of the recorded result matter as much as the machine's motion.

OEM collaboration

Build programmes with overseas manufacturing partners

Extensive work with OEM facilities in India and elsewhere overseas — specifying, developing and commissioning control systems built at partner factories. Working across time zones, languages and differing electrical standards, where a detail lost in translation turns into a machine that has to be reworked after it lands.

From the work

Control panel with Allen-Bradley PLC, PowerFlex drives, safety relays and ferruled terminal rails, every device individually labelled
Food processing — Allen-Bradley control for a lidding and carton erecting line. Every breaker, contactor and drive is labelled with the function it drives, so a fitter at 3am can find the right device without a drawing.
Hydraulic valve banks with solenoid coils and loomed cabling on a rig control assembly
Oil and gas — hydraulic valve banks and solenoid control on a rig package, functions identified so a fault can be traced on site rather than guessed at.
ifm ecomat distributed I/O modules with M12 connectors in a sealed enclosure
Oil and gas — ifm distributed I/O in a sealed enclosure. M12 connectors throughout, so a module can be swapped in the field without re-terminating anything.

Platforms

CODESYSRockwell AutomationSiemens TIA PortalCANopenifm

Plus experience working to IECEx and ATEX requirements on plant in hazardous-area environments.

Electronic security

A selection from work since 2015 across South-East Queensland.

Sport & venues

Stadium security systems

Large-venue security across multiple camera counts and access points — the environment where enterprise video management platforms earn their keep, and where systems are operated by staff who did not install them.

Local government

Council facilities across South-East Queensland

Security systems at council and community facility sites — buildings that sit empty most of the week, are used intensively by rotating groups, and are administered by staff for whom the system is a small part of a much bigger job.

Aged care

Major aged care facilities

Security and access control in environments where residents' dignity and freedom of movement matter as much as the security outcome, and where egress and life-safety requirements set hard constraints on what a controlled door may do.

Platform training

FLIR Latitude
Trained on FLIR's enterprise video management platform — the class of system used across large, multi-camera sites.

Current work

PanelPro Studio

Alongside this business I build and sell PanelPro Studio, a control panel design tool used by switchboard shops and automation professionals. It produces true-scale layouts, automatic wiring schedules and bills of materials, and 3D renders built from manufacturer geometry. It’s the same tooling used on panel work here — which is why you get to see a panel before it’s built.
